  Corporate Overview

The company uses the structural chemistry, or framework approach to drug development, exploiting a chemical technology for creating drug candidates directly from the known structures of natural peptides, proteins and related compounds.

Mimetica owns a new class of core scaffold molecules that mimic an important structural feature of peptide ligands – reverse turns. Turns – beta, gamma and helical – are particularly important in peptide ligands for G-protein coupled receptors – GPCRs – the single most important receptor class for therapeutics.

Sequence information from native peptide hormones is transferred to small molecule hormone mimetics based on a number of Mimetica's proprietary chemical frameworks.

The value of Mimetica’s technology is that it can be applied to a wide range of GPCR targets, providing partners with:

  • rapid cost effective generation of lead compounds;
  • guaranteed compound novelty;
  • superior optimisation for receptor selectivity; and
  • the possibility for extended patent life due to scaffold patent coverage enabling the delay of therapeutic patent filing.
